How the FLAMES Calculator Works

Our calculator faithfully recreates the classic pen-and-paper algorithm with a modern, animated twist. Here is how it works, step by step:

• Step 1 — Enter Names: You enter two names into the calculator — yours and the person you want to check.
• Step 2 — Cancel Common Letters: The calculator identifies and cancels out all letters that appear in both names. If a letter appears once in each name, it gets cancelled once. The animation shows you exactly which letters are being struck through.
• Step 3 — Count the Remainder: The remaining (uncancelled) letters from both names are counted together to produce a single number.
• Step 4 — Cycle Through FLAMES: Starting from the letter 'F', the calculator counts through the FLAMES sequence. The letter the count lands on is eliminated. Counting then restarts from the next letter. This continues until only one letter remains.
• Step 5 — The Result: The final remaining letter is your destiny! Each letter represents a different relationship type, revealed with a fun animation.

The entire computation happens instantly on your device. Nothing is sent to the internet, and no data is stored anywhere.
